Rooted Mind
Therapy Collective
ABOUT US

We didn't set out to build a therapy practice. We set out to build something better.
Rooted Mind Therapy Collective was born out of a friendship and a shared frustration — with a mental health system that too often feels inaccessible, impersonal, and disconnected from the real, layered lives people actually live. Angela and Kelsey met [how you met], and over time, what started as a professional kinship became a genuine friendship, and a shared vision for what therapy could look like when it's done differently.
We believe that healing happens in relationship — not just between a therapist and a client, but within a broader context of who you are, where you've come from, and the world you're navigating. That's why our work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by an intersectional feminist lens, alongside critical race theory and gender theory. We don't see these as buzzwords — we see them as essential tools for understanding the whole person who walks through our door.
What that means in practice: we take seriously the ways that systems of power — racism, sexism, heteronormativity, fatphobia, ableism, and more — shape mental health. We don't treat struggles in a vacuum. We ask not just what's wrong, but what happened, and what's been happening in the world around you.
We are deeply committed to three things:
-
Accessible care. Mental health support should not be a privilege. We offer sliding scale fees because we believe cost should never be the reason someone doesn't get help.
-
Ethical care. We hold ourselves to a high standard — in how we practice, how we show up for clients, and how we continue to grow and learn as clinicians.
-
Responsible care. We stay current with research, we examine our own biases, and we are honest about the limits of our expertise. We don't just do what we've always done — we do what the evidence supports, and we evolve.
We are two friends who take this work seriously — and who genuinely believe that the right therapeutic relationship can change your life. We'd be honoured to be part of yours.
